Moving home and Packing is both exciting and demanding. There are many things that you have to keep in mind when making the move and it is very easy to forget things.

Here are the top 10 most forgotten things when moving, so be aware of them and double check to make sure that you do not leave anything at the back on your move.

  • One of the most forgotten things that homeowners moving leave at the back are records. Family records such as birth and wedding certificates, insurance policies and any other special records.
  • Many of us hide stuff that are of value to us personally or things that we do not use every day. We often hide them in safe places to make sure that we do not misplace them. This could be under drawers or on the top of wardrobes. So to make sure that you do not leave any of these things behind pause for a moment and ask yourself if you have secured any things in safe places.

  • Phone numbers by way of address books can often get left at the back. Many times old address books are store away for safe keeping at the backside of drawers and many times these can get forgotten about and are ignored. Therefore they can get left at the back if for example you are leaving some pieces of furnishings in the home for the new tenants.
  • Spare a thought to any things that you might have taken to the cleaners or that you have lent to neighbors and friends. If possible get in touch and get back your things before you leave.
  • While this may sound like a stupid thing it can be simple to forget your new address. Someone might ask you for this such as neighbors and friends and of course you will have to give it to utility companies. Make sure that you write it down and keep it on you at all times.

  • Remember to leave out just the basic cleaning materials so that you can go over the home once more before you leave to make sure you leave it spic and span. Where possible keep small cleaning materials such as travel sizes so that you can leave them behind as cleaning materials will be listed as unsafe materials.
  • If you have a garage attached to your home then checks to ensure that the door opener is usable for getting the car out on the moving day.
  • Remember to make planning for your pets and kids for the moving day. While you will not leave your kids behind, pets such as cats can often be forgotten and left last if they have gone wandering off.
  • Always make sure that you have not forgotten to give such as banks of your change of address.
  • At last do not forget to get back any spare keys to the home you are leaving from relatives or from hiding places. Also don’t forget to take your new home keys with you.
